This series will use the Jump Desktop app with 2-Factor Authentication to connect to your remote edit workstation.
If you already have a Jump Desktop account and/or have installed the app for a previous project, you can click instead on this link for instructions for users with previous accounts. If you have not, please continue reading.
THE FREE MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR APP
On your phone, search the App Store or Google Play and download.
THE JUMP DESKTOP APP

- If you have a PC (requires Windows 7 or later): https://jumpdesktop.com/downloads/jdwin
Once installing, open the app, and in the top left click [Sign in]. A pop-up will ask you to [Click here to sign in via your web browser].
- A Sign-In page will open, and you should click [Create an account].
- Enter your first/last name, email, and a password, and click [CREATE]
- You will be redirected to your email to confirm your email address. Open the email entitled Confirm your Jump Desktop account, and click [Verify Email].
- You will receive a Success webpage, that says you can now sign into your Jump Desktop account. Click sign into.
- You will reach your Dashboard.
ACTIVATE 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION
On the left of your Dashboard is a Security tab. Click it, and under 2-Factor Authentication, click [Activate 2-Factor Authentication]

- A QR code will appear in a Pop-Up called Set Up Authenticator
- GO TO YOUR CELLPHONE:
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator App, on the bottom right click Verified IDs, & scan the QR Code
- On the bottom left, click Authenticator, and you'll see a changing 6-digit code
- Click [NEXT] in the Browser Window, and type in the 6-digit code from your phone. Click [VERIFY]
- Screenshot the backup codes and [CLOSE]
- Your dashboard will now say 2-factor authentication is activated.
ACCEPTING THE JUMP INVITE
You should have received an email from no-reply@jumpdesktop.com entitled: You're invited to join a team
- Click the blue box: [Accept the invite]
- A pop-up will say Join A Team: You've been invited to join a team: MAX Post. Click [Accept Invite]. You will be redirected to your Dashboard.
You're set! Go to the Jump Desktop App.
PLEASE NOTE: If you Accepted the Jump Invite first, and then you had to go through the process of setting up 2FA, you then have to re-accept the invitation from the email.
ACCESSING YOUR REMOTE COMPUTER
In the Jump Desktop app, under computers, you should see a system entitled [mp-edit-###]. Select it, and see below re: entering your Windows or Mac Credentials:
- Windows Username: MAXPost
- Windows Password: mp
- Click Log in
- Mac Username: MAXPost
- Mac Password: mp308
- Click Log in

BEST PRACTICES
- Quit composer and unmount workspaces daily to protect databases from corruption
- Ensure home internet speeds of 100 Mbps+
- If possible, limit streaming, gaming, etc in the household during work hours
- If experiencing latency, try power cycling (ie unplug for 2 minutes) your home modem to re-establish the connection
